POMONA (Dec. 19, 2016) — Blake McBride and
Nolan Kelly supplied the Coyotes' offense Saturday night, combining on nine 3-pointers in CSUSB's 69-61 loss at Cal Poly Pomona at Kellogg Arena.
McBride scored a game-high 21 points with six 3s and Kelly scored 11 with three 3s as CSUSB dropped to 5-4 overall and 1-3 CCAA.
The Coyotes led for just 37 seconds in the contest, but had their chance late in the second half.
Eli Brown connected on a three-point play that put CSUSB ahead 48-47 with 7:01 remaining. CPP answered with a 7-0 run, keyed by a Daylan Lawrence 3-pointer that placed the Broncos up 54-48 with 4:48 left.
Kelly later hit another 3 that cut the Coyotes' deficit to two (55-53) with 3:23 left. However, CPP again answered with another 7-0 run to close out the victory.
CSUSB hit 17 of 50 from the field with 11 3s for 34 percent.
CPP hit 21 of 42 from the floor and was led by Chris Sullivan's 14 points.
The Coyotes make their 2016-17 home debut Dec. 29 against Stanislaus State.
