LA JOLLA (Dec. 16, 2016) — Dorian Butler scored 16 points in CSUSB's 70-60 loss at No. 20 UC San Diego on Friday night.
Butler hit 5 of 15 shots with a pair of 3s, but the Coyotes fell behind by double digits early in the second half and could not get over the hump against the Tritons (8-2, 3-0 CCAA).
The Coyotes trailed 33-29 at the break, but a pair of 3-pointers — by Adam Klie and Scott Everman — put UCSD up by double digits (41-30) with 18:34 remaining in the game.
CSUSB never got closer than nine and eventually trailed by as many as 17.
The Coyotes (5-3, 1-2) finished 19 of 48 from the field, and only hit 59.3 percent from the line (16-27).
Khleem Perkins had nine and
Eli Brown added eight for CSUSB, which plays at Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday.
Klie scored a game-high 21, and Everman and Chris Hansen each had 12 for UCSD.
