ARCATA (Jan. 30, 2016) -- A hard-fought contest Saturday night ended just short for the Coyotes, who lost 93-92 to Humboldt State in CCAA basketball.
Anthony January earned his first double-double of the season, scoring 22 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. CSUSB shot 50.7 percent from the floor and scored 14 3-pointers. In fact, the teams combined to score 27 3s.
Desi Barmore scored 19 points for the Coyotes, now 7-11, 4-10 CCAA.
Zeke DeBlase added 16 points with four 3-pointers and
Juan Martinez had 14 and four 3s.
CSUSB rallied from a 13-point deficit with 11:34 left and took the lead on a 3 from ZeBlase with 41 seconds left and CSUSB up 90-88. HSU's Thomas Witzel answered with a 3 of his own, and he hit two free throws after January was called for a foul after he followed his missed field goal attempt.
The Coyotes narrowed the final margin on January's putback following a misfired 3-pointer from
Juan Martinez.
Both teams shot better than 50 percent with HSU hitting 59.3 percent on 32 of 54 shots. Malik Morgan led five players in double figures with 20 points and six assists.
