SAN BERNARDINO (Feb. 12, 2016) -- The long-range ball factored in the Coyotes' 74-59 win over visiting Stanislaus State in CCAA men's basketball Friday inght at Coussoulis Arena.
CSUSB set a season-high mark with 14 3-pointers, thanks to
Juan Martinez (19 points),
Everett Turner (17) and
Zeke DeBlase (11). The trio combined on 11 of those 14 as CSUSB (8-12, 5-11 CCAA) pulled away from the Warriors (5-15). 4-11) in the second half.
CSUSB closed out a two-possession game on two sets of 3-pointers from Martinez -- a true 3-pointer and three free throws for a personal six-point play and the Coyotes led 58-47 with 6:38 left. The lead increased to 18 down the stretch.
The lead changed five times despite Stanislaus' largest lead of only two points.
DeBlase had 11 points, and team highs in rebounds (eight) and assists (six). Turner was solid, too, with five boards, five assits and a season-high five steals.
Stanislaus had two players with double-doubles: Vondel Faniel (17 points and 12 rebounds) and Kyle Gouveia (13 and 11).
Darryl Adigwu had eight points and
Desi Barmore and
Keith Smith each had six points.
CSUSB returns to Coussoulis Arena against Chico State on Saturday.
