Box Score ROHNERT PARK (Jan. 30, 2016) -- Junior RHP Tyler Wells shutdown Sonoma State, striking out 12 of the first 16 batters faced and the Coyotes went on to a 1-0 victory in the season opener for both teams.

The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was tied at 3-3 in the sixth before called due to darkness. The game will be completed tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. with the third game of the series to follow.

Wells was phenomenal in his effort. He struck out the first five Seawolves he faced and the first eight SSU outs were courtesy of Wells' right arm.

Wells threw six shutout inning and SSU did not earn its first hit of the game until the leadoff hitter in the sixth. He finished with just one walk and two hits allowed.

CSUSB got the game-winning run in the ninth. Grant Buchanan reached on a one-out single to left and then stole second. Jake Caron's single up the middle scored Buchanan.

In the SSU ninth, senior RHP William Ouellette retired the Seawolves in order for his first save of his Coyote career and his first apperance on the mound for CSUSB.

The Coyotes had three hits with Dylan Lohman earning the other.

Joshua Murtha earned the win in two innings of relief wtih one strikeout.
