Box Score 2 GOLDEN, Colo. (Sept. 5, 2015) -- The 19th-ranked Coyotes ran into a difficult foe in No. 8 Colorado School of Mines, losing 3-1 in the final match of the Oredigger Classic on Saturday night.
The Coyotes, who opened the day with a 3-0 win over Colorado Christian, make their home debut this week at the Coyote Classic. They open tourney play against New Mexico Highlands at 7 p.m. Thursday at Coussoulis Arena.

But Mines took control late in each of the final three sets for its 18-25, 25-21, 25-22, 26-24 victory.

Alexandra Torline led CSUSB (3-1 overall) with 16 kills and junior
Malika O'Brien next with 12. Three Coyotes had 10 kills apiece --

Brenna McIntosh, who hit .588 (10-0-17).
CSUSB rolled in the opener, hitting .541 on 21 kills, and only one error in 37 attacks. Torline had seven kills in the set with an ace, while McIntosh, Solis and Christner had four each.
The Coyotes hit .346 in the second, but Mines led throughout most of the set, thanks to its .520 effort on the attack.
The host Orediggers took the lead at 2-1 when it pulled away after the set was tied at 20-20. Three straight points gave Mines the lead at 23-20 and after the Coyotes closed the gap to one, thanks to a kill from O'Brien and a block assist from Torline and McIntosh, Mines got a pair of kills for the 25-22 win.
The fourth set featured 11 ties and three lead changes. CSUSB led as late as 22-18, but the Orediggers fought back and the set was tied three times.
At 24-24, Mines took the lead on a Coyote attack error and earned the victory on a kill from Frannie Cornier.

Jayann DeHoog had 46 assists and eight digs, while
Hannah Barrett led CSUSB in digs with 13. Solis had 12 and Christner had 10. CSUSB totaled 12 block assists with McIntosh leading with four.
Mines improved to 4-0.
Coyotes 3, Colorado Christian 0CSUSB rolled with a .326 attack percentage, led by Solis' 10 kills and .556 attack percentage in its 25-19, 25-17, 25-17 victory.
McIntosh had eight kills with seven block assists as CSUSB had 22 block assists and three solos.
CSUSB forced its opponent into 24 attack errors.
Ciara Richards had 21 assists and DeHoog with 13. Barrett led with 13 digs.
On the block, Christner had five block assists, while O'Brien and sophomore
Lauren Nicholson had four each.
Nicholson also had nine digs.
