SAN BERNARDINO (Sept. 25, 2015) -- Cal State San Bernardino's soccer team put on a good show under the lights, but came up just short against No. 25 Cal State L.A. on Friday at Coyote Premier Field.
The Coyotes surrerendered a quick goal in the opening minute of play and never could get the equalizer in a 1-0 loss to the Golden Eagles in a California Collegiate Athletic Association game. Cal State San Bernardino (3-3-1, 1-1-1 CCAA) lost for the first time in three conference matches, while Cal State L.A. (5-0-1, 3-0 CCAA), the national leader in goals against average last season, posted its third straight shutout.
Cal State San Bernardino brought in lights for the game and a crowd of 762 saw a defensive battle between two quality teams. Cal State L.A. had a 13-8 advantage in shots and a 3-0 edge in corner kicks. Cal State L.A. goalkeeper Anthony Perez made two saves for the shutout, while Cal State San Bernardino goalkeeper

After Marvin Iskra scored in the opening minute of play after heading in a corner kick by Herbert Biste, the Coyotes faced an uphill battle. Cal State San Bernardino defender
Daniel Looker made a key play in the 24th minute, clearing away a scoring attempt by Cal State L.A.'s Troy Dumlao to keep the score at 1-0.

Andy Reyes came close to tying the score in the 77th minute, but Perez made a brilliant one-handed save to deny the bid.
Warn made a pair of saves in the 75th minute to stop shots by Iskra and Dumlao. Warn also made a good save on a bid by Brett Elliott, who took a pass from Iskra and sent a shot toward the right post in the 79th minute.
Cal State San Bernardino had a pair of attempts in the waning moments, but a shot by Looker went wide in the 89th minute and a shot by Reyes was blocked in the final minute of play.
Andy Reyes had a team-high three shots for the Coyotes, while
Tony Lo had two shots.
Cal State San Bernardino will return to action on Sunday with a home game against Cal State Dominguez Hills beginning at 4:30 p.m.
