SAN BERNARDINO (Sept. 10, 2015) — CSUSB produced a home opener victory with a flourish, dominating New Mexico Highlands 3-0 in nonconference volleyball Thursday night at Coussoulis Arena.
The 16
th-ranked Coyotes took control from the get-go by winning 25-3, 25-20, 25-21 and improving to 4-1 overall.
CSUSB orchestrated two substantial runs in the opener, going 9-0 at one point and finishing the set on a 12-0 run in a set that saw the Coyotes hit .684 on 13 kills without an error in 19 attacks.
In fact, the Coyotes never trailed during the match that had only seven ties. They totaled .374 on 42 kills, eight errors and 91 attacks.
Senior OH
Alexandra Torline led the Coyotes with 13 kills (hitting .345) and sophomore OH
Lauren Nicholson added 10 and hit .471. Senior MB All-American
Brenna McIntosh was next with eight kills and one solo block with three block assists.
Torline added two service aces to share the team lead with freshman
Hannah Barrett. On defense, senior OH
Ashley Solis led with 12 digs and the Coyotes totaled 44 on the night.

CSUSB returns to Coussoulis Arena on Friday night when it takes on Concordia-Irvine at 7:30 p.m. The Eagles defeated CCAA member Cal State East Bay 3-2 in tournament play.
Coussoulis Arena and The Den play host to a total of 20 matches over the three-day tournament.
