Box Score ROHNERT PARK (March 8, 2015) -- Sonoma State scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to hand the visiting Coyotes a 5-4 defeat in CCAA baseball Sunday afternoon.
The Coyotes, who are now 4-17 overall and 2-10 CCAA, travel back to Northern California with a four-game series against Chico State beginning Friday night.
Trailing 2-1 through two innings, the Coyotes tied the game at 2-2 in the fourth on Damion Edmonds' RBI-single that scored Kevin Meriwether. They took the lead in the eighth when Trevor Williams scampered home after Aaron Owen doubled down the third-base line.
In the ninth, Grant Buchanan singled up the middle and advanced to second on the throw that allowed Bryce Harrison to score and CSUSB led 4-2.
But in the ninth, two Seawolves (10-10, 5-7) scored on an error by Edmonds in right field, and Cameron Merriwether brought in the winning run on a sacrifice fly to center.
Edmonds went 4-for-5 and Owen 3-for-4, while Buchanan had two RBI.
Coyotes RHP Tyler Sloan was strong in his start, throwing five innings and allowing two hits, two runs (both earned) with three strikeouts.
