Box Score CHICO (March 15, 2015) -- Grant Buchanan ripped a two-run home run in the sixth inning for the Coyotes, who lost 4-2 on Sunday in the series finale against Chico State.
The Coyotes (5-20 overall, 3-13 CCAA) return to CCAA play this week against league-leading UC San Diego. They'll face the Tritons at 6 p.m. Saturday night in La Jolla, then return to Fiscalini Field for a 12 p.m. Sunday doubleheader. The four-game series will break until late April due to Finals week at UCSD that begins this week and CSUSB next week.
Chico State got on the board with two runs in the fifth to set up Buchanan's blast in the sixth. Damion Edmonds led off the inning with a single, then moved to second on a ground-out by Kevin Meriwether. That brought up Buchanan, who delivered the hit over the right-field wall.
But the Coyotes had just two hits in the final three innings as Chico State scored single runs in the sixth and seventh.
Edmonds led CSUSB with three hits and Dylan Lohman had two. Buchanan's homer was the only extra-base hit for either team. Aaron Owen had the other hit for CSUSB.
Tyler Sloan took the loss in 6 1/3 innings with three strikeouts and a walk. He gave up seven hits, and all four runs (two earned).
Chico State is 9-8, 8-7.
