Box Score 2 CHICO (March 14, 2015) -- CSUSB snapped its four-game losing streak, thanks to its five-hit, four-run sixth inning in a 4-1 victory over Chico State in Saturday's doubleheader finale.
Dillon Fahr went 4-for-4 (all singles) and Damion Edmonds had three hits to key a 13-hit attack for the Coyotes (5-19 overall, 3-12 CCAA) against the Wildcats (8-9, 7-7).
Earlier, the Coyotes lost 4-1 in the opener. The two teams conclude their four-game series with an 11 a.m. Sunday 9-inning game.
Game 1: Chico State 4, Coyotes 1
Grant Buchanan had two of the Coyotes' five hits, but CSUSB had difficulty solving Brad Loshe. The right-hander limited the Coyotes to four hits in seven innings.
Warren Fishback, Spencer Bayless and Andrew Lopez accounted the other three hits.
Coyotes RHP Tyler Wells (0-3) took the loss. He gave up nine hits, four runs (all earned) with four strikeouts in five innings.
Game 2: Coyotes 4, Chico State 1
The Coyotes stranded 10 runners through five innings and then broke through with the pivotal sixth inning.
Trevor Williams and Fahr reached on singles, and Edmonds' single to left brought in Williams. Kevin Meriwether followed with an RBI-singles.
Three batters later, Aaron Owen drove in Edmonds on a sac fly to left and Dylan Lohman followed with a two-out single to left that scored Meriwether and the Coyotes had their three-run lead.
Meriwether and Lohman each had two hits.
On the mound, Brian Conley threw 4 2/3 innings for the start with three strikeouts. Reliever Ruben Rios (4-1) got the victory with 2 1/3 innings He allowed only two hits and struck out one.
