Box Score 2 SAN BERNARDINO (Feb. 28, 2015) -- CSUSB ended its weekend series against Cal State Monterey Bay, losing 7-2 and 8-7 in eight innings Saturday afternoon at Fiscalini Field.
The Coyotes (3-14, 1-7 CCAA), who have lost seven games, travel to Sonoma State this week for a four-game series with the Seawolves.
Game 1: Otters 7, Coyotes 2The Coyotes trailed 4-0 before cutting the deficit in half with a two-run sixth.
Damion Edmonds led off the inning with a double to right and later scored on a ground out by
Grant Buchanan.
Dillon Fahr, who reached on an error, also scored in the inning on a errant throw by the catcher after he stole third.
But that was it for the Coyotes, who were held to six hits.
Aaron Owen led CSUSB at the plate with two hits.
Reliever
Ruben Rios had three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings of relief.
Game 2: Otters 8, Coyotes 7 8 inningsCSUSB sent eight batters to the plate in the third innings, scoring four runs on five hits. Supplying the key hit was
Jon-Paolo D'Este, who hit a two-run single to right center. Owen and
Warren Fishback each had RBI.
CSUMB answered back with two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to close the Coyotes' lead to 4-3.
IN the fifth, Fishback connected on a run-scoring single to drive in Buchanan, who singled to right for a 5-3 lead.
But the Otters grabbed the lead 7-5 in the sixth with a four-run inning on four hits and the Coyotes tied it in their half of the sixth with two runs -- one on a wild pitch that brought in
Dylan Lohman, and the oter on a ground-out by
Kevin Meriwether that scored
Ryan Rich.
The Otters grabbed the lead in the eighth on a fielder's choice by Will Rosado.
Fahr advanced to third with two outs in the eighth, but Buchanan ended the threat and the game on a flyout to left.
Buchanan had two hits.
