Box Score 2 POMONA (February 21, 2015) -- No. 11 Cal Poly Pomona earned a doubleheader sweep against the Coyotes on Saturday, winning 6-5 and 3-0 in CCAA baseball.
The Coyotes (3-10, 1-3 CCAA) return to Fiscalini Field this week with a four-game series against Cal State Monterey Bay that begins Friday night.
Game 1: Broncos 6, Coyotes 5
Warren Fishback led the Coyotes with two hits and Trevor Williams had a two-run single, but CSUSB fell behind 6-2 through six and mounted a rally that came up just short.
Trailing 6-2 in the eighth inning, the Coyotes scored three runs on two hits to narrow the gap to 6-5. Kevin Meriwether reached on a two-out error and Damion Edmonds followed with a single to second. Meriwether moved up on two wild pitches and scored, and Williams came through with a single to left to move the Coyotes to a run of the lead.
In the ninth, CSUSB has the bases loaded with one out, but couldn't get any closer.
Senior RHP Tyler threw 5 2/3 innings and struck out two, walked two and gave up 11 hits. His six runs allowed were all earned.
Game 2: Broncos 3, Coyotes 0
The Coyotes had just one runner reach second base and were dealt their third-straight loss. CPP scored three unearned runs in the second on just two hits.
Dillon Fahr, Fishback, Williams and Meriwether all singled for the Coyotes' four hits.
CPP improved to 8-2, 3-1.
