Box Score LAS VEGAS Nev. (Feb. 15, 2015) -- Cal State San Bernardino capped a successful weekend at the Desert Stinger Tournament, defeating the University of Mary 12-11 on Sunday afternoon.
The Coyotes (6-5 overall) entertain Adelphi University in their home opener Wednesday afternoon at Coyote Park.
CSUSB faced a 4-0 deficit before it had a chance to hit, but when it did the Coyotes responded with a four-run first inning with four hits and 10 batters to the plate. All-American Nicole Nobbe had two hits in the inning with two RBI and Briana Quintana also had a two-run double.
The Coyotes scratched another run in the second and Cassandra Williams homered to center in the third for an 8-5 lead.
CSUSB padded the lead to 12-6 in the fifth with just one hit, an RBI single to left by Alyssa Ramos that scored Nobbe, who was hit by a pitch.
The Coyotes then withstood a Marauders rally as they scored four runs in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Ramos was 4 for 4 with two RBI and Williams was 3 for 3 with two RBI. Nobbe and Quintana each had two hits and each had two RBI.
Cassandra Williams earned the victory in six innings and improved to 5-3.
