Box Score SAN BERNARDINO (Feb. 14, 2015) -- The Coyotes completed their four-game series against Point Loma on the downside, losing 6-4 and 5-1 in a doubleheader played at Fiscalini Field on Saturday.
The Coyotes will now prepare for CCAA play when they take on Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday. First pitch is 6 p.m.
Game 1: Point Loma 6, Coyotes 4
CSUSB outhit the Sea Lions 10-9, but the foes broke a 4-4 tie with runs in the eighth and nine innings.
The Coyotes broke through on Warren Fishback's RBI single to center that scored Grant Buchanan in the first.
PLU scored four runs on just one hit off Tyler Rahier in the second for a 4-1 lead. But the Coyotes came right back with three in the third to tie the game at 4-4.
The Coyotes sent eight to the plate and Buchanan struck with a one-out single through the right side that scored Kevin Meriwether, who singled to short.
Three batters later, Fishback singled to center to score Buchanan, who also singled. Aaron Owen followed with a sacrifice fly to left that scored Trevor Williams, who singled to left.
The game remained tied at 4-4 until Point Loma got an RBI-double from Anthony Torres and a solo home run from Ryan Garcia in the ninth.
Rahier threw five innings with four strikeouts and five walks. Ruben Rios got the loss in 2/3rds of an inning in the eighth.
Game 2: Point Loma 5, Coyotes 1
Jon-Paolo D'Este gave his team its only run with a two-out single to left that scored Buchanan, who singled.
The Sea Lions scored twice in the third on and added three runs in the seventh for the win.
Damion Edmonds had two hits including a double. Bryce Harrison was the only other Coyote with an extra-base hit; a double in the fourth.
