Box Score SAN DIEGO (Feb. 13, 2015) — The Coyotes featured big moments from a trio of players, but host Point Loma got the job done in its 3-2 victory in nonconference baseball Friday afternoon.
The Coyotes (2-5 overall) and Seawolves (4-2) conclude their four-game series with an 11 a.m. doubleheader Saturday at Fiscalini Field.
Point Loma grabbed a 3-0 lead with single runs in the first, third, and fifth innings, before the Coyotes made things interesting.
CSUSB had its first 15 batters retired in order before
Spencer Bayless led off with a solo home run to left field.
The Coyotes were retired in order in the seventh, but
Warren Fishback pulled his team to within a run of the lead with a home run down the left-field line.
Three batters later, pinch-hitter
Trevor Williams doubled to left center but
Kevin Meriwether flew out to center to end the threat.
CSUSB was retired in order in the ninth by LHP Eric Pierce. The sophomore from San Clemente threw a four-hitter against the Coyotes with eight strikeouts and no walks.
Sophomore RHP
Tyler Wells did a nice job in his five innings. He had six strikeouts without a walk and gave up seven hits. All three runs were earned.
Sophomore Damian Edmonds had the only other hit for the Coyotes. He led off the game with a single up the middle and was later caught stealing.
