Coyotes' fourth-quarter rally highlights Crebbin debut

POMONA (Nov. 20, 2015) -- Cal State San Bernardino dug deep late in its season opener against Simon Fraser and came through with a victory in coach Sue Crebbin's debut at the helm.

Down 50-40 with 9:06 remaining in the game, the Coyotes struck gold from 3-point land, hitting five 3-pointers down the stretch in their 66-60 victory over the Clan in a game played at Cal Poly Pomona.

CSUSB makes its home debut Saturday night against Montana State-Billings. Tipoff is 6 p.m. and will be preceded by the Cal Poly Pomona-Simon Fraser game at 4 p.m.

Senior Chelsea Austin keyed the Coyotes with 19 points including five threes and eight rebounds in 37 minutes of play. Fellow seniors Adriana Brodie (13) and Chelsea Barnes (12) were the other Coyotes in double figures.

SFU's Elisa Homer gave her team a 50-40 lead with 9:06 remaining in the game and it seemed the game was in doubt for CSUSB).

Consecutive 3-pointers by Austin and senior Alexcia Mack got the Coyotes. After a three by SFU, Mack hit a jumper and Brodie followed with a free throw. A 3-pointer by Austin cut the deficit to one, 53-52 with 6:17 remaining.

Harden then gave the Coyotes the lead for good (57-54) with a three of her own and CSUSB pushed the lead to nine on three occasions inside the final 2:43.

Brodie finished with eight points and 12 rebounds and Summer Ramsey had six off the bench. Mack had five – all in the fourth quarter.
