SAN BERNARDINO (Oct. 3, 2015) -- Cal State San Bernardino was out-shot by Cal Poly Pomona at nearly a 7:1 ratio, but the Coyotes and Broncos played to a 1-1 tie Saturday afternoon.
The game was nonconference and led the Coyotes at 4-3-3 overall and CPP 5-3-1. The two teams play their CCAA contest Oct. 14 at CPP's Kellogg Field.
Gabby Evaristo positioned herself right in front of the box in the 11th minute and her shot from teammate
Ebony Squier was true for a 1-0 Coyotes lead.
But that goal was just one of three SOG for the Coyotes and they withstood a furious attempt by the Broncos in the second half.
CPP fired off 18 shots in the second half with seven SOG and tied the game in the 64th minute on Stephanie Rodriguez's first goal of the season.
For the game, CPP totaled 27 shots to CSUSB's 4 and had six corner shots, while the Coyotes did not have one.
CPP maintained control of the ball for most of the second half, but only got the one goal against Coyotes' GK
Megan Vina, who played the second half in place of starter
Emily Whyte.
Whyte played both overtime periods. She had three saves.
