SAN RAFAEL (Sept. 6, 2014) -- The Coyotes were the dominant team against host Dominican on Saturday afternoon and it paid off with a 2-1 overtime victory in nonconference men's soccer.

Juan Carlos Gonzalez fired in a penalty kick with 90 seconds remaining in the first OT and made the Coyotes 2-0 overall in 2014.

The goal was Gonzalez' third in two games.

Dominican was called for a hand ball in the box and that set the tone for Gonzalez, who deftly drove the shot through the left side for the victory.

Coyotes coach Steve Ralos credited a well-rounded effort.

"We had possession of the ball 70 to 75 percent of the time today,'' he said. "It was a well-deserved win. Wins are the result of a lot of hard work and the boys have put the time in since camp started in mid-August.''

CSUSB got on the board first when junior F Corey Christ scored on an unassisted goal in the 54th minute.

The Coyotes out-shot DU 10-9 and held their opponent without a corner kick in the nearly 100-minute game.

CSUSB returns to the pitch in its home opener Saturday against Dixie State.
