TURLOCK -- The Coyotes needed just two innings to produce eight runs in an 8-2 win over host Cal State Stanislaus in the opener of Saturday's CCAA doubleheader.

The Warriors came back to the second game, 8-6.

Both teams conclude their four-game series at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Game 1: Coyotes 8, Cal State Stanislaus 2

Four straight hits, capped by Brian Lockey's two-run double, keyed a six-run fifth inning as the Coyotes rolled to victory.

Cal State Stanislaus led 1-0 through four innings until CSUSB sent 11 men to the plate in the pivotal inning.

Then in the eighth Aaron Beckley and Kevin Meriwether supplied RBI for the final two Coyotes' runs.

Dylan Mitchell (2-4) threw six innings and gave up six hits. He struck out two and walked two. Ruben Rios had two strikeouts in three innings.

Meriwether, Nolan Almodovar and Nick Oddo all had two hits. CSUSB finished the game with eight.

Game 2: Cal State Stanislaus 8, Coyotes 6

A two-run double by Beckley in the fourth cut CSUS's lead to 4-3 and the Coyotes rallied with two runs in the seventh and it appeared a sweep was a distinct possibility.

But the Warriors (7-14, 3-11) came up with three runs and eight to the plate in the seventh.

Matt LeVert (1-2) took the loss in one inning of relief. Starter Jake Meloche had two strikeouts in 3.1 innings for CSUSB (8-16, 6-9).

Almodovar and Beckley had the only extra-base hits of CSUSB's seven total.
