Box Score RIVERSIDE -- Senior left-hander
Kerry Kelley did his part on the mound, striking out four and scattering four hits, but the visiting Coyotes had difficulty at the plate in Thursday's 4-0 loss at Cal Baptist in nonconference baseball.
Kelley (0-2) did not issue a walk and all four hits allowed were singles.
However, CBU (4-0 overall) made the most of its five base hits (all singles). Leading 1-0 through two innings, the Lancers sent six batters to the plate in the fifth and scored two runs on three hits.
They later added a single run in the eighth.
Nolan Almodovar, Trevor McMaster, Nick Oddo, Jose Hernandez, Remington Miller and Aaron Beckley accounted for the six Coyotes' base hits -- all singles.
Oddo was the only Coyote to reach third in the game; he had a one-out single through the right side, moved over to second on Miller's base hit and reached third on passed ball.
The teams resume their series Friday night at Riverside. First pitch is 6:30 p.m.
