SAN BERNARDINO (Nov. 6, 2014) -- The month of November takes an added meaning for teams looking to add to their NCAA Tournament resume.
No. 18 CSUSB performed at a high level Thursday night in a 3-0 win over Humboldt State in a match between two of the upper shelf squads in the CCAA. Both teams are ranked in the NCAA West Region poll, with the Coyotes seventh and HSU eighth.
The Coyotes (17-5 overall, 14-4 CCAA) were tough on the block and on the attack in their 26-24, 25-19, 25-21 victory. It was CSUSB's fourth straight win and ninth in their last 10 matches.
Junior MB

Tori May had a match-high 12 kills without an error and finished with a .545 attack percentage.
HSU (16-6, 12-6) took the match to the Coyotes right away, taking a quick 5-1 lead. CSUSB fought back and earned its first tie at 16-16, then worked its way to a 19-18 lead on a McIntosh kill. Five more ties down the stretch put the score at 24-24 until the Coyotes got the upper hand.
An attack error with HSU serving gave the Coyotes sideout at 25-24 and they forged ahead for the win on a block assist from Torline and McIntosh -- the pair's third block assist in the set.
CSUSB took control of the second set after it was tied at 10-10 when
Kaitlyn Christner and McIntosh teamed for a block.
The Coyotes worked a 3-0 run in their favor with a McIntosh ace and
Ashley Solis key in the run.
Ciara Richards worked a kill that made the score 19-12 and the Coyotes went on to the break with a 2-0 match lead.
The third set had nine ties and three lead changes and again Richards gave the Coyotes a push.
The Palm Springs native worked a kill that gave CSUSB the lead for good at 14-13.
With
Abbey Vollkommer serving, Torline and McIntosh paired up on two block assists and a HSU attack error put the score 17-13 CSUSB. The Coyotes stayed out front and the match was theirs when Torline earned her ninth kill of the night.
The Coyotes had 25 block assists and McIntosh had the only solo block on the night. She also had two service aces.
