Coyotes ousted from CCAA Tourney in 4-3 shootout

Box Score ROHNERT PARK (Nov. 2, 2014) -- No. 21 Cal State San Bernardino had its CCAA Tourney run end Sunday afternoon as host Sonoma State advanced on a shootout after the game was tied at 2-2 through 110 minutes.

Fourth seed SSU, which outpointed the Coyotes 4-3, advances to the CCAA semis on Friday when it takes on Cal State L.A.

Down 1-0 at halftime, junior Melanie Aguayo scored two goals in a 12-minute span that gave the Coytoes the lead.

In the 52nd minute of play, Aguayo came through on a penalty kick in which she rebounded the ball and tapped in the tally.

Then in the 64th minute, she came off a corner where the ball was batted around and Aguayo gained control and scored.

SSu's Krista Luna tied the game at 2-2 in the 69th minute when she scored on a free kick.

CSUSB outshot the Seawolves 15-10 and had nine SOG to only four for the Seawolves.

Jasmine Williams, Sierra Van Meter and Peyton Nocciolo scored in the shootout for CSUSB.

The Coyotes (14-4-1 overall) will now wait for the NCAA annoucement at 4 p.m. PST Nov. 10 on www.ncaa.com.
