Box Score SAN BERNARDINO (Oct. 24, 2014) -- Freshman
Debray Hollimon played a role on each of the Coyotes' goals Friday afternoon, but the most important one became the game winner.
Hollimon dealt a pair of assists, then cleared himself free and fired in the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Coyotes past visiting Cal State Monterey Bay 3-2 in CCAA men's soccer.
The Coyotes (9-4, 5-4 CCAA) won their fifth straight game as it heads into Senior Day on Sunday against San Francisco State.
CSUSB held a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from
Juan Carlos Gonzalez and
Corey Christ and seemed to have the game in hand with 12 minutes remaining in the game.
However, CSUMB didn't get the message and scored two goals in a five-minute span to tie the game at 2-2 and force OT.
In the extra period, the Coyotes made the most of their best opportunity when Christ retrieved the ball near the midfield stripe and found Hollimon wide open.
The freshman from Wichita, Kan., took the ball and forced the Otters' GK to confront. Hollimon went wide and fired a no-doubter that went into the far right side of the net for the victory.
Hollimon was one of seven Coyotes to go the entire 91-minute and 56-second game. He was joined by: GK
Roberto Gonzalez,
Eric Lavery,
Daniel Looker,
Larry Llamas,
Stephen Watson and
Jacob Davies.
Juan Carlos Gonzalez and Christ each scored their sixth goals of the season and share the team lead.
The Coyotes outshot the Otters 17-16.
