Box Score ARCATA (Oct. 12, 2014) -- Good things tend to happen for the Coyotes when they score multiple goals in the 2014 season.
Larry Llamas and
Daniel Lopez each scored goals for the Coyotes in their 2-0 win at Humboldt State in CCAA men's soccer.
The victory pushed the Coyotes to 6-4 overall and 2-4 in the CCAA. And it marked the sixth time this season that CSUSB scored more than one goal in a game and came away victorious.
After a scoreless first half by both squads, the Coyotes came alive in the second half. Lopez retrieved the ball from
Tony Lo and made the Lumberjacks pay in the 51st minute of play.
Then in the 69th minute, Llamas took a long ball from
Stephen Watson and nailed a strike from 30 yards to the left of the keeper and the Coyotes were in control.
Coyotes' GK
Roberto Gonzalez was superfulous in his start, turning back eight shots for his first shutout victory of the season.
HSU totaled 18 shots, nine in each half, but the Coyotes' stack of defenders were up to the task.
CSUSB earned its first CCAA sweep of the season and looks to carry that momentum into Friday's home contest against Cal State Stanislaus.
HSU is now 8-3, 4-2.
