Box Score LOS ANGELES (Oct. 9, 2014) — Fourteenth-ranked Cal State San Bernardino displayed power both offensively and defensively in its impressive 3-1 victory Thursday over CCAA-leading Cal State L.A.
CSUSB (10-4, 7-3 CCAA) hit .367 on the attack with junior OH
Alexandra Torline leading the way. The Huntington Beach native totaled an impressive 22 kills and a .476 attack percentage in the Coyotes' 25-18, 20-25, 25-18, 26-24 victory. Senior MB All-American

Ashley Solis had nine and eight kills, respectively. Junior
Kaitlyn Christner matched Solis's effort with eight.
The Coyotes had only nine attack errors in the four-set match and were equally dominant in their blocking scheme. Four players had at least four block assists with McIntosh at the command with five. May, Christner, and Solis each had four. McIntosh had the only solo block for either team.
Torline was at her best in the first and fourth sets with eight kills in each.
CSUSB never trailed in the opening set and grabbed an insurmountable 17-10 lead after a kill from Solis. CSULA got as close as three at 21-18 before Torline put the brakes on with a kill that triggered a 4-0 run that closed out the set.
The Coyotes dropped their only set of the night in the second set in which the teams combined for 10 ties and three lead changes. CSULA fired its effort on the night with a .469 with 16 kills and only one error.
However, CSUSB came back right in the third. Down 9-7, McIntosh produced a kill to draw within a point, and with kills from Christner and May, CSUSB regained the lead at 10-9. A service error by the Coyotes tied the set at 10 apiece, but Christner followed with a kill and the Coyotes regained the lead for good.
In the fourth and deciding set, the teams were even for much of the way. A Loreal Carter kill gave the Golden Eagles a 24-23 lead, but Torline delivered her eighth kill of the set and 22
nd on the night to tie the set. Then, setter
Ciara Richards threw down just her second kill of the night and the Coyotes led 25-24.
Then, McIntosh and Christner teamed for the final time of the night on a block and CSUSB had its road victory.
Richards set the entire way and had 56 assists with a service aces. Defensively, senior L
Arielle McCullough and Richards each had 14 digs with
Jordan Ortega adding 1.
CSUSB remains on the road Friday at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
CSULA (10-3, 8-2) was led by Iona Lofrano's 15 kills.
