Coyotes, Seasiders battle to 0-0 tie

Season opener goes 110 minutes without a tally

Box Score LAIE, Hawaii -- Senior Raul Gomez and sophomore Robert Bechtel each had a shot on goal, but the Coyotes and BYU-Hawaii battled to a 0-0 tie in the season opener for both men's soccer teams Thursday afternoon.

The Coyotes mustered seven shots and withstood BYU-H's 13 shots, but it wasn't enough for the victory.

Sophomore GK Jeff Salt stepped up, shutting out the Seasiders with three saves.

The Coyotes had seven corner kicks including two in the final OT, but could not solve the Seasiders' Chris Pineda.

CSUSB returns to play Friday afternoon against Hawaii-Hilo and former Coyotes' head coach Lance Thompson.
