Coyotes handed disappointing loss on PK

Scoreless streak ends at 630-plus minutes in 1-0 loss to CPP

Senior D Lee Nishanian totaled five shots against Cal Poly Pomona.
Box Score SAN BERNARDINO – A glance at the scoresheet shows Friday's game against Cal Poly Pomona was a tad, bit physical.
 
The teams combined for 37 fouls, but the Coyotes were issued five yellows to just one for CPP en route to a 1-0 loss in CCAA soccer.
 
The game was decided on a penalty kick in the 55th minute after CSUSB's Tyler Schoenfeld was called on a yellow inside the box. CPP's Matthew Perez made sure the PK counted with a shot past Coyotes' goalkeeper Jeff Salt.
 
That was the all the scoring in the 90-minute game
 
Both teams had five shots on goal and the Coyotes led in total shots, 15-13.
 
The loss was CSUSB's first on the season and the goal was the first allowed by the Coyotes this season – totaling some 630-plus minutes.
 
CSUSB (4-1-2, 2-1 CCAA) next competes Sunday morning against UC San Diego. Kickoff is 11:30 a.m.
 
CPP is 3-1-1, 1-1-1.
