Box Score HAYWARD -- Senior
Raul Gomez received the ball just three minutes in overtime and made his shot count as the Coyotes defeated host Cal State East Bay 1-0 in CCAA men's soccer Sunday.
Six games into the season, CSUSB owns a 4-0-2 overall record, 2-0 in the CCAA and has yet to give up a goal in more than 580 minutes.
Not bad for a team that had its head coach resign a week before fall camp began.
CSUSB was out-shot 18-10 through regulation, but Gomez made the most of his opportunity. His strike was the only shot by either team in OT.
Jeff Salt earned the start and played just the first half. Robert Gonzalez came in and had four saves in 48-plus minutes of work.
Juan Gonzalez led the Coyotes with three shots and with two SOG against the Pioneers, now 0-4, 0-2.
CSUSB will make its home debut Friday afternoon against Cal Poly Pomona. First kick is 12:30 p.m.
