Steven Chagolla's two-run single was the only hit for the Coyotes in their 8-4 loss to San Francisco State and CSUSB went on to lose the second game of Saturday's doubleheader 10-5 in CCAA baseball at Fiscalini Field.
CSUSB, now 14-25 overall and 8-23 CCAA, and the Gators (15-27, 12-22) close their weekend series Sunday at 11 a.m.
Game 1: San Francisco State 8, Coyotes 4
The Gators, who led 2-0 after two innings, struck with a four-run, three-hit third to take command in the opener.
Mark Lindsay led the Gators with four hits and two RBI, while Justin Lamb also had two RBI for the Gators. A.J. Almaraz also had two hits and three RBI.

Taylor Valentine went just 2 2/3 innings and gave up six hits, six runs (three earned) and had two strikeouts. Reliever LHP
Kerry Kelley did an outstanding job of keeping the Coyotes in the game. He threw 6 1/3 innings and had one strikeout and allowed six hits and two runs.
Game 2: San Francisco State 10, Coyotes 5
Curtis Cassise had two hits and
Remington Miller added an RBI-triple, but the Gators enjoyed a six-run sixth inning that gave them necessary cushion in earning the sweep.
Down 4-0, the Coyotes with two runs in the third and one in the fourth to close within a run.
Michael Castello, who walked, later scored when
Colton Johnson reached base on an error. Chagolla then grounded into a 6-4-3 double play that scored Miller, who walked.
In the fourth, Castello's one-out single to right scored
Trevor McMaster and SFSU clung to a 4-3 lead.
But SFSU struck with six runs and five hits to pull away.
Dillon Meyer, Miguel Flores and A.J. Pianto all had two hits.
