SAN BERNARDINO – Sophomore RHP Kaitlyn Randall threw one of her most impressive games this season with a 3-hitter in the Coyotes' 8-1 victory over Cal State East Bay in the teams' CCAA softball series that began Friday.

Randall struck out eight batters, walked five in keeping the Pioneer batters off key.
CSUEB came back in the second game to post a 7-4 victory for the split.

The Coyotes (10-24 overall and 6-16 CCAA) and Pioneers (10-20, 6-16) return to Coyote Park on Saturday in the conclusion of their weekend series. First pitch is 11 a.m.

Game 1: Coyotes 8, Cal State East Bay 1
Randall threw no-hit ball through four innings and gave up her only run of the game in the fifth.

The Coyotes did all they could to support Randall with two runs in the second and third inning, a single run in the fifth and three in the sixth.

Pinch-runner Na'Tavia Lee scored on a wild pitch and Jamie Leffingwell later came around to score on a throwing error by the catcher for the Coyotes' runs in the second.

In the third, senior Alyssa Flores' two-run single up the middle scored Darian Manuz and Charlotte Galzote, who each had singles.

After Flores added her third RBI of the game – a double to right center that scored Britney Butler – the Coyotes put the game out of reach with a three-run, three-hit sixth inning.

Flores led the way at the plate with a 3-for-3 effort and four RBI, while Butler and Galzote each had an RBI.

Manuz equaled Flores' output at the plate with three hits and Butler had two.

Game 2: Cal State East Bay 7, Coyotes 4
The Pioneers, who trailed 1-0 through two innings, answered with a five-run third and never looked back for the split.

Alyssa Ramos had three hits and Monica Ferguson had two for the Coyotes, who had 11 hits.

Alyssa Lopez earned her first base in more than a month with a double to deep left field in the fourth.

Vika Kafoa had three hits and Nicole Adair had three RBI for the Pioneers, who scored their most runs since an 11-0 victory over Dominican on Feb. 10.
