SAN BERNARDINO – Cal State San Bernardino snapped its 12-game losing streak in a big-time way in the 10th inning and senior

CSUSB, which was dealt an 8-0 loss in five innings in the opener, returns to Coyote Park this weekend in a CCAA series against Cal State East Bay beginning Friday afternoon.
Game 1: Dixie State 8, Coyotes 0 (5 innings)
The Red Storm clubbed three home runs and that was more than enough support for starter RHP Melissa Duncan, who threw a four-hit shutout in a game called after five innings.
Alyssa Flores was the offensive story for the Coyotes with two doubles.
Monica Ferguson and
Victoria Lievanos each had a single.
Freshman
Monica Cartwright was dealt the loss. She allowed four runs – all earned – in an 1 1/3 inning.
Game 2: Coyotes 12, Dixie State 11 (10 innings)

The Red Storm came back to tie the game with two runs in the second and gained the lead with a two-run third.
The Coyotes were down 9-7 entering the bottom of the seventh when they came alive to force extra innings.
Flores led off the inning with a single and scored when Ferguson delivered a single to center and advanced to second on an error by the center fielder.
One out later,
Victoria Lievanos reached on an error by the second baseman, scoring
Abreanna Landeros, who pinch ran for Ferguson.
Each team scored a run in the ninth and that forced the tie-breaker in the 10
th.
Dixie State placed Courtney Hine on second and she came around to score on Rochelle Jenkins' single.
In the 10
th,
Britney Butler was placed on second and she scored on Ferguson's double, who then advanced to third on the throw.
Dixie State then intentionally walked the next hitters – Leffingwell and Lievanos, bringing
Amanda Lopez to the plate. She flew out to left and
Jacqueline Lopez stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs.
She earned the heroine title on this day when she delivered a two-out single to left that brought in Ferguson.
Ferguson had four hits and
Charlotte Galzote went 4-for-6. Butler finished with three RBI.
Junior RHP
Taylor Davis earned the victory in 5 1/3 innings of relief. She improved to 2-2 and had two strikeouts with five walks, but allowed just one hit.
