SAN BERNARDINO – Senior Britney Butler delivered a solo home run for her school-record tying 41st career home run in Saturday's play against Cal State Monterey Bay in CCAA softball.

The Coyotes were swept by Cal State Monterey Bay, 10-1 in six innings in the opener and 13-4 in five innings in the second game.

CSUSB (8-22 overall and 5-15 CCAA) is off for Winter finals break and resumes play when it takes on Dixie State on March 25.

Game 1: Cal State Monterey Bay 10, Coyotes 1 (6 innings)
The Otters' Cori Reinhart was the star in this game, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and missing the cycle by a single.

On the mound, Reinhart threw a four-hitter with four strikeouts and did not issue a walk in her six innings.

CSUSB scored one run on four hits. Butler went 2-for-4 and Jamie Leffingwell and Melissa Roberts accounted for the Coyotes' other hits.

Alyssa Flores lifted a fly ball that the right fielder dropped and Britney Butler scored from third for the Coyotes' only run.

Game 2: Cal State Monterey Bay 13, Coyotes 4 (5 innings)
Down 3-0, Butler did her best to give the Coyotes a lift as she ripped a fastball to deep left field off Otters' starter Lindsey Clarkson for her career-tying home run in the first inning

The home run was Butler's third on the season and tied the record of 41 shared by Krista Hernandez (2004-07).

But the Otters (16-13, 11-9) had home runs from Reinhart, Lauren Ermitano and Clarkson as CSUMB batted around in the third and fourth  inning for the weekend sweep.

Robert and Butler each had two hits, with Victoria Lievanos, Flores, Monica Ferguson and Na'Tavia each with one hit. Ferguson had two RBI on the day.

On the season, Butler is now hitting .507 (35-for-69) and Flores is hitting a robust .412 (35-for-85) with a team-leading 31 RBI.
