Coyotes use long ball in 9-5 win over APU

Series resumes Friday at Fiscalini

 AZUSA -- The Coyotes accounted for six runs off three home runs and went on to earn a 9-5 win over host Azusa Pacific in nonconference play Thursday night.
 
CSUSB won its third straight game in as many games and looks to extend that winning streak in today's 2 p.m. game against the Cougars (1-2).
 
Senior designated hitter Andrew Harrison gave the Coyotes a 1-0 lead in the second with a solo home run to right.
 
The Coyotes led 2-0 entering the bottom of third when APU struck with three runs on two hits. Domenic Biagni connected on a two-run triple off Coyotes' starter James Trebus. One batter later, Richie Brown collected an RBI-double.
 
Trevor McMaster tied the game at 3-3 with a sacrifice fly that scored Curtis Cassise, who singled.
 
Up 4-3 through six innings, Michael Castello stretched the Coyotes' lead with a three-run home run to right that scored Remington Miller and McMaster in the seventh.
 
After APU scored two runs in the eighth, pinch-hitter Billy Hamilton added the final home run for the Coyotes. The Rialto native clubbed a two-run shot to right that scored McMaster.
 
James Trebus earned the win and improved to 2-0. He struck out eight and walked two. Reliever Kerry Kelley threw three innings and had three strikeouts.
 
Castello and freshman Christian Gomez each had two hits.
