Sophomore MB sets .933 attack effort in 3-0 win over Cal State Stanislaus

Brenna McIntosh established a school record with 14 kills, 0 errors and 15 attacks.
Box Score SAN BERNARDINO – Sophomore MB Brenna McIntosh performed at a level unseen in the history of Coyotes' volleyball.
McIntosh established a school record attack percentage of .933 on 14 kills, no errors in 15 attacks as No. 13 Cal State San Bernardino roared past Cal State Stanislaus 3-0 at Coussoulis Arena on Friday night.

The Yorba Linda native broke the record held by three former greats – Samantha Middleborn, Sara Rice and Sharea Drawn, who shared the mark at .900.

This was a night that saw the Coyotes do everything right in improving their overall mark to 17-5 and a CCAA-leading 13-1 in the 25-17, 25-21, 25-12 victory.

McIntosh wasn't just effective on the attack. She added for good measure two service aces, a pair of digs and five block assists. She was perfect on her first 11 attacks before going 3-for-4 in the final third set.

CSUSB took control in the first set, utilizing a five-point run for a 6-1 lead. Junior libero Arielle McCullough had seven of her 14 digs in the first set and sophomore Alexandra Torline had four kills in the opener.

The second set featured 13 ties and seven lead changes, the last when Tori May's solo block gave the Coyotes a 16-15 lead.

But in the third, the Coyotes played at their best. They threw down a .625 attack percentage without an error in 24 attacks.

Senior outside hitter Danielle Newcombe, senior setter Stephanie Sinohui and sophomore outside hitter Kaitlyn Christner each had three kills in the set, along with McIntosh.

For the match, Newcombe, May, Ashley Solis and Christner all had six kills apiece, and Newcombe joined McIntosh with two service aces.

Christner led with two solo blocks and Newcombe chipped in four block assists. Sinohui had 39 assists.

Blair Ehrlich led Cal State Stanislaus, now 7-15, 4-10, with nine kills.
