Coyotes close first half in style

No. 14 CSUSB wins 12th straight and complete CCAA first half at 11-0

Box Score SAN BERNARDINO – The 14th-ranked Coyotes joined an exclusive club in CSUSB history Saturday night by virture of their 3-0 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills in CCAA volleyball.

The Coyotes, now 15-4 overall and 11-0 CCAA, pushed their winning streak to 12 consecutive as they became the fifth CSUSB team since 2006 to open the first half of the conference ledger unbeaten. The 2013 edition joins the 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2011 teams.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Christner led the Coyotes with a match-high 12 kills in the 25-12, 25-14, 25-22 at the Toro Dome.

CSUSB never trailed in each of the first two sets before closing out CSUDH (8-11, 1-10) in the third.

The Coyotes came back in the third as Christner fired off five kills and Alexandra Torline and Tori May each had three.

Down 21-20, the Coyotes rallied after trailing through most of the set. Kills from Christner and May helped secure the set and the match.

The Coyotes hit .297 for the match and were supported by 24 Toros' errors on the attack.

May and senior Destiny McIntyre each had three block assists for the winners.

Senior S Stephanie Sinohui had 29 assists and junior L Arielle McCullough had 13 digs.

CSUSB returns to Coussoulis Arena on Friday when it takes on San Francisco State.
