Coyotes softball swept at Cal State Stanislaus

CSUSB takes 8-15 slate into Saturday's doubleheader

Freshman Charlotte Galzote had two hits for the Coyotes in Friday's second game.
TURLOCK -- Cal State Stanislaus scored seven unanswered runs and went on to earn a 9-6 victory over the Coyotes in CCAA softball Friday afternoon.

The Warriors went on to earn the sweep, winning 6-4 in the second game.

Game 1: Cal State Stanislaus 9, Coyotes 6 (Box score)
In the opener, junior Alyssa Flores and senior Felicia Cervantes each went 3-for-4, while senior Courtney Wilhelms had two hits and two RBI and junior Jamie Leffingwell added two RBI.

Wilhelms had the Coyotes' only extra-base hit -- an RBI double in the seventh.

Wilhelms took the loss for the Coyotes. She threw 3 2/3 innings, allowed seven runs -- six earned -- but gave up just two hits. She walked five, hit one batter and had a strikeout.

Game 2: Cal State Stanislaus 6, Coyotes 4 (Box score)
In the second game, CSUS posted a four-run second inning and that was enough for the win.

Senior Alex Mitchell and freshman Charlotte Galzote each had two hits. Galzote and junior Britney Butler each had an RBI.

Carly Land (3-6) took the loss in 4 1/3 innings. She gave up four hits, four runs -- two earned -- and hit three batters and had a walk with a strikeout.

The Coyotes (8-15, 4-10 CCAA) have lost nine of their last 10 games. They'll look to snap that streak with a Saturday doubleheader.
