LAIE, Hawaii -- The road toward a fifth consecutive NCAA West Regional title came to an end for the Coyotes, who were defeated 3-0 by region host BYU-Hawaii on Saturday night at the Cannon Activities Center.
The Seasiders handed the Coyotes a 27-25, 25-18, 25-19 defeat and move on to the NCAA championships this week in Pensacola, Fla.
The 2012 season may be over, but what the Coyotes accomplished was extremely gratifying. They earned their seventh straight CCAA title and reached the NCAA regional final match for the 13th straight year.
Coach
Kim Cherniss' squad was led by junior OH
Danielle Newcombe, who had 10 kills and 11 digs as CSUSB finished its season 24-9 overall.

The Coyotes led through most of the first set and were on the verge of closing out the Seasiders after a BYUH attack error gave the Coyotes a 23-19.
But after a Seasiders timeout, they rallied with eight points. CSUSB led 25-24, but a BYUH kill, attack error from CSUSB and a bad set ended with the Seasiders on top.
The Coyotes never led in the second set, but closed the gap at 22-17 after a four-point rally before BYUH got back in
control and led 2-0.
CSUSB led 12-9 in the third before the Seasiders struck with seven straight points and remained out front.
Winchester, senior All-American
