SEASIDE -- CCAA champion Cal State San Bernardino took care of business Saturday night with a 3-0 win over Cal State Monterey Bay in the final weekend of regular-season play.
The Coyotes pushed their record to 21-8 overall and 18-3 in the CCAA and complete their regular season Saturday night at Cal State East Bay.
Freshman
Alexandra Torline led the Coyotes with 12 kills and fellow freshman
Ashley Solis added 11 in the 25-19, 26-24, 25-20 victory.
Sophomore
Brittney Paino earned key playing time and responded well with a match-high four service aces, along with eight kills and eight digs.
Senior All-American
Camille Smith dealt 36 assists with 11 digs, and sophomore libero
Arielle McCullough led in digs with 24.
Freshman
Brenna McIntosh had the team's only solo blocks along with three block assists.
CSUSB scored eight straight points after trailing 3-0 in the first set and stayed out front.Torline had seven of her 12 kills in the opening set.
Solis punched out five kills in the second set. The Coyotes trailed 23-21 before finding their groove. A service and attack error tied the set at 23. After the set was tied again (24-24), a Smith kill and bad set by CSUMB put the Coyotes comfortably ahead, 2-0.
Solis had five kills in the final set and Paino added four in the third set.
