POMONA – Coach Noah Kooiman's Coyotes earned their first victory of the season by going on the road and defeating Cal Poly Pomona 2-0 in CCAA play Friday night.

It didn't take long for the Coyotes, now 1-2 overall, 1-2 CCAA, as Marco Martinez put his team out front with a goal just five minutes into the contest. After a throw-in, Martinez got the ball from D.J. Vigil and sent a hard shot to the right corner of the net.

The game remained at 1-0 until late when sophomore Lee Nishanian scored on an unassisted goal in the 69th minute.

The game was foul plagued with the teams combining for 33 fouls.

Junior All-American GK Tanner Olinger earned the win and turned back two shots – both in the opening 45 minutes.
