SAN BERNARDINO
-- Senior Morgan Carty is among eight seniors on the 2011 Coyotes squad and one of four who have been in the program all four years.

On Friday night, Carty played a fine all-round match with a match-high 13 kills, a team-high 10 digs and six block assists as the second-ranked Coyotes defeated visiting Humboldt State 3-0 before a crowd of 375 at Coussoulis Arena.

The victory extends the Coyotes' school-record winning streak to 23 matches and pushed their home court streak to 57 consecutive wins. Carty and her teammates who arrived on the CSUSB campus in the fall of 2008 -- Samantha Middleborn, Megan Johnson and Kelcie Tolan -- have known nothing but home victories inside Coussoulis as CSUSB last loss at home in the final match of 2007.

The Coyotes proved to be in complete control on this night as they trailed just once -- 1-0 in the second set -- in capturing a 25-13, 25-16, 25-19 victory; their 12th straight over the Lumberjacks (8-15, 5-14).

The match also was  team effort on the defensive end as 12 different Coyotes accounted for digs. Tolan and junior All-American setter Camille Smith had nine each and senior Priscilla Collings had seven. Smith finished with 25 assists.

On the attack, CSUSB fired a .289 percentage (48/15/114). Middleborn had 11 kills, followed by Johnson's nine and Collings' seven. Middleborn also had five block assists, and Johnson had three. Sophomore Danielle Newcombe had one solo block.

A 9-0 run by the Coyotes, aided with six attack errors gave CSUSB all the cushion it needed to earn the first set win. CSUSB had five blocks during that stretch that pushed a CSUSB lead from 10-8 to 19-8.

The second set was tied at 6-6 before the Coyotes got on track. A kill from Collings gave CSUSB possession and with Collings setting, the Coyotes strung togeter nine consecutive points and comfortably stayed out front.

CSUSB fired .256 in the final third set, but was never threatened.

The Coyotes take on No. 24 Sonoma State on Saturday night. Should the Coyotes win, they would clinch the CCAA regular-season title for a sixth straight year.
