SAN BERNARDINO
-- A pair of goals from Julio Ayala and three assists from Marco Martinez paid off in a big-time way as the host Coyotes earned a stunning victory with a 4-0 shutout over long-time national and conference power Cal State Dominguez Hills in California Collegiate Athletic Association play Friday afternoon at Premier Field.

The Coyotes, who improved to 5-2-0 overall and 3-2 in the CCAA, will enjoy their day off Saturday as they now prepare to face top-ranked Cal State L.A. on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m.

CSUDH was dealt its first loss of the season and is now 4-1-2, 3-1-1.

The victory was a historic one as it marks the largest victory over the Toros. CSUSB has now won three of its last four games and served as a rewarding one as CSUDH ended the Coyotes' NCAA Tourney appearance last season in the first round.

Senior Obi Agwu got things going in the game's 34th minute when he converted on a loose ball. Jose Godinez got the ball up close and Agwu gathered the ball on the left-side of Toros GK Marcus Dickerson and fired it past the GK's left.

Leading 1-0 at the half, CSUSB unleashed a flurry of offensive activity int he final 40 minutes.

At the 51st minute, Godinez earned a goal of his own. The ball came off the corner kick and with a scrum in front of the net, he dropped it in from five yards.

Ayala got his goal-scoring act going in the 74th minute when he earned the ball off a long cross from Martinez and fired in a header past Dickerson, who was replaced by Eric Davis.

Ayala capped his two-goal day with another feed from Martinez, this time at the 86th minute. The shot took place up close and he made the Toros pay.

CSUSB was opportunistic with its shot selection as the Coyotes totaled 14 shots with six shots on goal.

Tanner Olinger improved his record to 3-2. He had five saves for his shutout.
