Box Score: SFSU def. No. 8 Coyotes 1-0
SAN BERNARDINO -- San Francisco State proved to be a formidable opponent Friday afternoon as the visiting Gators earned a 1-0 upset victory over No. 8-ranked Cal State San Bernardino in California Collegiate Athletic Association men's soccer.
The loss ends the Coyotes' unbeaten streak of five games as they are now 7-3-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the CCAA. The Gators improved to 6-4-1, 4-4-1.
The game belonged to the Gators' Antonio Ugarte, who found himself in front of the net and on the receiving end of a pass from Edgar Villagrana in the game's 53rd minute. Ugarte pounced on the ball and drove it past the outstretched arms of Coyotes GK
Tanner Olinger.
The goal would hold up as the Coyotes totaled 13 shots with five SOG, but couldn't find an answer against Gators GK Michael McNeil.
The Coyotes out-shot SFSU 13-8 with
Albert Cabrera totaling four shots. The CCAA's leading goal scorer senior
Obi Agwu mustered just two shots with one SOG.
Olinger had six saves on the day.
CSUSB returns to Coyote Premier Field on Sunday when they play host to Cal State Monterey Bay. Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m.
