SAN BERNARDINO
-- Martin Esqueda provided Friday's only goal and it delivered No. 6 Cal State San Bernardino to a 1-0 win over Cal State East Bay in California Collegiate Athletic Association men's soccer.

The Coyotes, ranked No. 1 in the NCAA West Region, improved to 11-3-1 overall and 9-3-1 in the CCAA. They'll wrap up the regular-season home portion of their schedule Sunday afternoon on Senior Day at Coyote Premier Field. Kickoff is 2 p.m. against UC San Diego.

CSUSB dominated offensively throughout the contest, but couldn't get the ball past Pioneers GK Bryce Brookhamer. It had 10 shots on goal -- including five from the CCAA's leading scorer Obi Agwu, but it took Esqueda's shot at the 74th minute of play.

Teammate #Julian Garcia fired off a long cross just inside the right corner and Esqueda tracked the ball and volleyed right back. The shot eluded Brookhamer and the Coyotes finally broke through the scoreless deadlock.

GK Tanner Olinger earned the victory and shutout. He now has a shutout against each CCAA South Division team except UC San Diego, the team the Coyotes face Sunday.

The Coyotes will honor their nine seniors on Sunday -- Agwu, Albert Carbrera, Arath De La Rocha, Chris Young, Jose Godinez, Zach Walker, Jorge Aguirre, Harry Cruz and Tyler Kahn.

The Pioneers fell to 2-13-2, 1-10-2.
