Morgan Carty and
Megan Johnson combined for 21 kills and six blocks Friday night to lead Cal State San Bernardino's streaking volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of CCAA conference member Humboldt State.
Carty had a match-high 13 kills on .571 hitting with seven digs and two block assists, while Johnson had eight kills on .538 hitting with four blocks, one of them solo as CSUSB prevailed 25-15, 25-15 and 25-19 over the Lumberjacks.
It was the 20th home win in a row for the Coyotes dating back to the start of the 2008 season and their 13th straight win to open the 2009 season. CSUSB is now 13-0 overall, 6-0 in the CCAA and alone in first place in the CCAA.
The Lumberjacks dipped to 6-8 overall and 2-4 in the CCAA. HSU will play at Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday while the Coyotes, ranked No. 2 in the nation, will host No. 15 Sonoma State (13-1 overall, 5-1 in the CCAA) after a 3-1 win Friday at Pomona.
CSUSB outpointed the 'Jacks 38-17 on kills and had 34 assists to just 15 for the visitors. Humboldt State came in as the conference's No. 1 blocking team and finished with 12 blocks while the Coyotes had 13.

Jane Chafeh, rated the No. 2 kill artist in the nation coming into the week with a 5.05 kills per set average, had an off night with just five kills in 20 swings.
Sara Hoffman and
Alyssa Auck combined for 32 assists for CSUSB.
CSUSB hit just .159 for the night, well below the .305 average that had it ranked No. 2 in the nation in hitting percentage entering the week. HSU hit just .036 against a team that leads the conference in opponent hitting average.
The Coyotes have now won all seven meetings between the two schools since Humboldt State entered the CCAA in 2006.
Danielle Wells led Humboldt State with six blocks, two of them solo. Allison Drobish and Oceana Matsubu each had five kills. Joliann Arzadon had 14 assists. Matsubu also had three service aces.
