Jane Chafeh slammed down 23 kills and had 12 digs Saturday night to lead Cal State San Bernardino to a 3-1 victory over Cal State L.A. in a CCAA conference women's volleyball match at the Eagles' Nest.
The victory improved the Coyotes -- ranked No. 1 in the West Region and No. 3 in the nation -- to 26-1 overall and 19-1 in the CCAA and cements their one-game lead in the CCAA standings with two home matches remaining in the regular season.
One win in the homestand against San Francisco State and Cal State Monterey Bay would clinch at least a share of the Coyotes fourth straight CCAA title and their seventh in the last nine years.
Cal State L.A., ranked 21st in the nation and No. 6 in the West Region this past week, is now 19-8 overall and 15-5 in the CCAA.
The Coyotes won the first two sets 25-16 and 25-22 before the Golden Eagles rallied to take the third set 25-22, but CSUSB pulled away from a 13-9 lead to outscore the hosts 12-4 to take the deciding fourth set 25-13.
Chafeh hit .327 for the match but got help from CSUSB's other front line bangers. Middle blocker
Samantha Middleborn had eight kills and seven blocks, one of them solo.
Nicole Moore had seven kills on .500 hitting while senior
Ashtin Hall had seven kills and 11 digs.

Camille Smith came through with 26 digs and four service aces. Two-time all-America setter
Sara Hoffman had 47 assists in the match as CSUSB outhit the Golden Eagles .246 to .103. The Coyotes led in kills 54-39, digs 69-58 and assists 51-36.
Zuzana Cizova led L.a. with 12 kills, 17 digs and two blocks. Gabriela Bulawczyk had eight kills and eight digs. Mary Laupepa had four blocks, three of them solo. Setter Kaylynne Delarosa had 33 assists.
