Coyotes are No. 3 in NCAA region poll

CSUSB takes 9-3 record into matches against Otters, Gators

Sophomore Brett Faggioni has been a strong defender for the Coyotes.
  Cal State San Bernardino's men's soccer team has even more incentive to continue its strong play this weekend at Cal State Monterey Bay and San Francisco State now that the NCAA has released its first West Region poll of the 2009 season. 
    The Coyotes, 9-3 overall and 5-3 in the CCAA conference, are ranked No. 3 in the West Region in the poll that will ultimately decide which teams will advance to the NCAA tournament in November. 
    CSUSB is also ranked No. 5 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America regional poll, an unofficial poll that has no bearing on NCAA seedings. 
    This weekend, the Coyotes take on an Otters team in Seaside on Friday that is 2-4-2 in conference play and 3-7-2 overall. Match time is 12:30 p.m. On Sunday, the Coyotes play at S.F. State, 2-3-3 in the CCAA and 5-4-3 overall. 
    The Coyotes have eight matches remaining in the regular season, including home matches against Chico State, currently ranked No. 8 in the NSCAA region poll, on Oct. 16. CSUSB has already finished playing No. 1 Cal State L.A. and No. 2 Sonoma State.

    YOTES NOTES – Coyotes lead the conference in points (88), goals (31), goals per game (2.58) and are No. 2 in assists (26) and No. 2 in assists per game (2.17)…..Albert Cabrera ranks No. 3 in goals scored (7), No. 2 in assists (5), tied for first in total points (19) and No. 2 in match-winning goals (3)….….Obi Agwu is No. 6 in points (15), No. 3 in goals scored (7)…..
