Cal State San Bernardino defeated Cal Poly Pomona, 3-0, Wednesday night in a CCAA conference women's volleyball match, but the Coyotes had to rally from behind late in the second and third sets to gain the sweep.
The inspired Broncos made a match of it after the Coyotes dominated the first set, 25-18, then hung on for a 26-24 win in set two and were forced to come back from a 24-22 deficit in the third set to win 27-25 and improve to 20-1 on the season 13-1 in the CCAA.
Cal Poly Pomona is now 8-13 on the season and 5-9 in the conference but they could have emerged the victor in sets two and three as easily as not and forced a fourth or fifth set on the Coyotes playing before a boisterous home crowd of 487 in Coussoulis Arena.
The victory advanced CSUSB's home win streak to 24 in a row dating back to the start of the 2008 season.

Jane Chafeh led the Coyotes, ranked No. 1 in the West Region and No. 3 in the nation, with 20 kills on .395 hitting. Junior outside hitter
Nicole Moore had a season-high 13 kills on .304 hitting for CSUSB. Senior setter
Sara Hoffman had a match-high 49 assists and sophomore middle blocker
Megan Johnson had nine kills on .818 hitting with no errors.
Senior Elizabeth Diaz had 10 kills to lead the Broncos who hit .245 for the match and proved to be the better blocking team with two solo blocks and 16 block assists while the Coyotes managed just two block assists in the three sets.
Jasmine Davis had 32 assists, a team-high nine digs and eight blocks, one of them solo from her setter position. Taylr Kreutziger had nine kills on .471 hitting with five blocks one of them solo for the Broncos.
CSUSB hit .330 for the match with 56 kills and 36 digs. Cal Poly hit a respectable .247 with 35 kills and 28 digs. The Coyotes played into Cal Poly's hands with 19 attack errors and nine service errors.
In the first set, the Broncos stayed close at 13-11 on a kill by Kreutziger but CSUSB went on a 8-2 run to take a 21-13 lead helped by two Bronco attack errors. A kill by Chafeh gave the Coyotes set point and took the set on another Bronco error.
In the second set, the Coyotes moved out to an 18-9 advantage capped by Chafeh's kill, but then it was all Pomona. The Broncos outpointed the Coyotes 9-2 to close the gap to 20-18 on a block by Davis and Kreutziger. Moments later, a kill by Diaz put the Broncos within one at 23-22 and tied it at 23-all on a Coyote error.
Pomona took the lead at 24-23 on another kill by Kreutziger off a Davis assist.
After Chafeh knotted the set at 24-all, the Coyotes subbed in freshman
Jane Moesche who served out the set on back-to-back kills by Chafeh from Hoffman.
In the third set, Pomona took the initiative and an early 10-6 lead on a Coyote error and the Coyotes trailed by two or three points until the Broncos had set point at 24-21 on a shared block by Davis, Kellie Hall and Kristin McNeese.
CSUSB managed to score three straight points to tie it at 24. The score was tied again at 25 before Chafeh put down her 20th kill of the night and closed out the match on a Bronco attack error.
