Coyotes men edge Gators, 1-0

Rodriguez goal lifts CSUSB to 11-3 on season, 7-3 in the CCAA

Daniel Rodriguez scored the winning goal for CSUSB at S.F. State
SAN FRANCISCO -- Cal State San Bernardino's men's soccer team completed a weekend sweep of its Northern California opponents Sunday with a 1-0 victory over host San Francisco State in a CCAA conference match.
Senior Daniel Rodriguez ended what had been a scoreless tie just 38 seconds into the second half, taking a pass from junior Albert Cabrera and slipping the ball past the goalkeeper to improve the Coyotes, ranked No. 3 in the NCAA West Region, to 11-3 on the season and 7-3 in the CCAA's South Division.
The Gators slipped to 5-6-3 overall and 2-5-3 in the conference.
On Friday, the Coyotes survived a tough match at Cal State Monterey Bay, winning 3-2 in overtime on a goal by junior Obi Agwu.
The 11 wins is the most for the program since it went 12-8-1 in 2003, the year the team advanced to the CCAA conference semifinals.
Junior goalkeeper Arath De La Rocha earned the shutout with help from his defenders who limited the Gators to two shots on goal, both stopped by DeLaRocha.
Cabrera and sophomore Billy Pellow also had shots on goal, but they were stopped by SFSU's keeper Eric Scolman.
