Cal State San Bernardino's men's soccer team sits in a three-way tie for second place in the CCAA conference's South Division as it prepares to face two rugged division foes Friday and Sunday.
The Coyotes (2-1-1 CCAA, 2-4-1 overall) take on Cal State Dominguez Hills (2-1-1 CCAA, 7-1-1 overall) at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Carson and then face UC San Diego (2-1-1 CCAA, 5-1-1 overall) on Sunday at noon in La Jolla.
CSUSB is coming off a roller-coaster weekend, coming from behind to beat Cal State Stanislaus 4-3 then being run over by Chico's unbeaten Wildcats, 4-0, in Chico last Sunday.
Sophomore
Albert Cabrera scored a goal and assisted on two others including the match-winner in the win over the Warriors.
Obi Agwu and
Miguel Alatorre also scored in the match.
A pair of victories this weekend would bode well for the Coyotes post-season chances with eight CCAA matches remaining after Sunday.
The team gets about 24 hours rest then takes on Chaminade University at 4 p.m. on Monday at Coyote Premier Field in a non-conference match. The Silverswords are 1-6-1 heading into the weekend.
VS. DOMINGUEZ HILLS – Toros lead the series 21-6 with four ties and have won the last 12 meetings dating back to 1999, the year CSUSB recorded its last win over CSUDH, 3-2.
VS. UC SAN DIEGO – The Tritons lead the series 17-9 with one tie. CSUSB has won three of their last nine meetings. Last Coyotes win was in 2006.

CSUSB is currently 1-3-1 at home this season and 1-1 on the road…..Two members of the 2007 Coyotes team are assisting Head Coach Noah Kooiman this season – Tony Vigil and Nick Boyce…..Coyotes have outshot opponents 79-63 and lead in corner kicks 31-23…..
OPPONENTS SUCCESS – The Toros are currently ranked No. 9 in the nation and No. 2 in the West Region….the team has won eight CCAA championships including the last two, three West Region titles and one NCAA championship (2000)…CSUDH has made 10 NCAA tourney appearances….Coach Joe Flanagan is 205-76-19 in 14 years as head coach of the Toros…..The Tritons have made 16 NCAA tournament appearances and won three national titles, the last in 1993. They haven't been to the tournament since 2003 but boast an all-time record of 361-189-55 since 1975…..Jon Pascale is the new head coach of the Tritons, taking over for long-time coach Derek Armstrong, who retired.
