Cal State San Bernardino's men's soccer team sits in a three-way tie for second place in the CCAA conference's South Division as it prepares to face two rugged division foes Friday and Sunday.
The Coyotes (2-1-1 CCAA, 2-4-1 overall) take on Cal State Dominguez Hills (2-1-1 CCAA, 7-1-1 overall) at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Carson and then face UC San Diego (2-1-1 CCAA, 5-1-1 overall) on Sunday at noon in La Jolla.
CSUSB is coming off a roller-coaster weekend, coming from behind to beat Cal State Stanislaus 4-3 then being run over by Chico's unbeaten Wildcats, 4-0, in Chico last Sunday.
Sophomore Albert Cabrera scored a goal and assisted on two others including the match-winner in the win over the Warriors. Obi Agwu and Miguel Alatorre also scored in the match.
A pair of victories this weekend would bode well for the Coyotes post-season chances with eight CCAA matches remaining after Sunday.
The team gets about 24 hours rest then takes on Chaminade University at 4 p.m. on Monday at Coyote Premier Field in a non-conference match. The Silverswords are 1-6-1 heading into the weekend.
